The C's Are Coming! |
"I sense something. A presence I've not felt since..." - Darth Vader
Yes, that's right Mr. & Mrs. C (no...not the cunningham's) are coming home for a visit. They'll be here Thursday afternoon. The above pic was the only one that I could find with the whole family. Jenny (Mrs. C) is holding Benji, who by the way is wearing some lipstick provided by the lips of Snow White herself (playa) and Tom (Mr. C) is holding Ariel. Tom has a mermaid thing that quite frankly I just don't have the time to go into at the moment. C will be deployed shortly after his visit with us. So this weekend is going to be one for the history books...Look out Little Rock...cause THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN! |

The Next Jedi Idol |
"In my experience, there's no such thing as luck." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
The above pic is Gavin. A young padawan of a fellow Jedi friend of mine, Darren. You can read the post of Gavin's guitar experience here Jedi all have the same basic gifts, but they also have something that is unique to just them. Gavin it seems has inherited a portion of his great-grandfater's gift, strumming the guitar. Remeber Gavin...with great power comes great responsibility. uh...wait...wrong movie. Remember Gavin... The force is strong in your family. After all you do have some Darklighter in your linage. |

There's Ice on Yavin IV |
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy" - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan may have been referring to Mos Eisley space port when he said that, but I'm sure it applies to the state of the residents here in the Bryant sector on Yavin IV when the ice storm hits. Crazy I tell you! C-R-A-Z-why? Because it's gonna Snow/Sleet/Ice or some combination thereof. Question! Which is the absolute worst time to go to Wal-Mart? A. Day after Thanksgiving B. Day after Christmas C. Sundays after Church D. Anywhere from 1 to 4 days out from a (possible) snow/ice storm.
The answer would be "D" I've heard stories that would make a wookie cry about being in Wal-Mart during a mass winter weather panic. If you don't believe me, check my fellow Jedi in the force Darren the Dashing and his blog on this winter phenomenon. Now the folks up north in the Hoth system. They're used to it. Not a problem for them, just another day. If only we could learn to deal with it in such a calm and calculated manner.
So what do you do when the ice comes down and Yavin. Well, when you live in my house and you have endless hours of time to kill indoors you do the only thing you can. Watch both of the Star Wars Trilogy from start to finish. We're halfway through right now. Xander hasn't quite gotten into it yet, but Haven she's sooo cute "Darf Bader daddy...Bader" It's been a fun morning. Jenn decided to clean out her closet instead. Sometimes I just can't figure out women! Sink into the couch with a drink, your kids and a really long long movie or clean out your closet....huh?
Well, atleast she did a good job. I'll give her that. You can actually walk into our closet now and see what's in it. "Impressive. Most Impressive."
Well, I need to get back. Got a lot of movie left and I haven't had my hot chocolate yet. Snuggle up and stay warm. |

Here We Go Again |
Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection." - General Grievous
Yavin IV is back up and running smoother than ever. And for those of you that haven't noticed (although you'd have to be blind) I've added lightsabers to my layout. Sweet. I figure if I can't have them in the house (see A Working Weekend) I can have them in my blog. Well, I must go. Much Jedi business to attend to. Seems it's snowing here on Yavin IV and everyone has gone nuts. Heading to the local markets and stocking up. Some people will never learn. It's not going to be 'the storm'. It'll be over before night fall. May the Force be with you... |

You may comment now... |
I was made aware that my comments section wasn't working. It was an error in my previous template. So I've used a standard one till I can rework it.
I was beginning to think no one wanted to talk. Perhaps everyone thought I had went a little tooo crazy with the Star Wars theme. But all is well. My comment section is fixed. ( however, to many I'm still broken and will never be fixed of my Star Wars craze.) |

Where was the support? |
There's a blog I found earlier and I've mentioned it before...One Marine's View. Say what you want, but this guy tells it like it is and takes no prisoners. He's an American Soldier and has patriotism flowing out of every pore. He's also a cowboys fan. That seals it for me. I enjoy reading his blogs, their no nonsense-get to the point-cut the crap-politically INcorrectness- really excites me. I love that kind of stuff. I'd never cut it in the corporate world or politics for that matter, too much 'non-comformist' in me - that and the fact that I hate beauracrazy (that's NOT a misspelling, I meant to do that).
Anyway, back to my point. In his latest blog (it's a good read check it out) he writes about the very apparent lack of support or mention of our soldiers in Iraq "Taking Care of Business." Personally, I think he's right on the mark. Our government is so afraid of offending some tree hugging, left wing, winey pants, who could care less about yours or my safety; that they tip-toe around the issue. And on the same token..."We've got to recognize Katrina." OK. Let's recognize! Let's recognize that it was Louisana's own (DEMOCRATIC RUN) government that dropped the ball. Let's recognize that it was Louisana's own government that squandered millions in levee rebuilding funds on other projects (and now they're screaming for more money?). They've already proven that they can't manage it. *BANG* ok rabbit shot. Back to my point.
I think it is just STUPID and UNAMERICAN to not support our troops. No matter what your belief. I don't care what side of the fence your on...you'd better wave those "Stars & Bars" proudly for the young men & woment that are constanly putting their life on the line so you can have the freedom to B*tch and Moan about it. Otherwise...who else is going to fight for your RIGHTS & LIBERTIES? You sure aren't. Your too busy with your sharpie making signs.
Anyway. SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! That's my point. I don't care who you are. If you wake up every morning and your foot touches American soul...you'd better support those that keep that ground you're walking on safe. If you don't. Then GET OFF MY LAND! So many people come here and complain about America. Yet they keep coming. How about going someplace else that better suits you. Options...antartica - france - germany...etc. Anywhere but here. |

New Link for C |
Greetings.
I'm sure most of my loyal readers know who I'm refering to when I say 'C'. If not let me elaborate. C is Tom Chenowith, my best friend for many years. In another month or so C will be deployed to Iraq for 6 months. Fun huh. I've set up a blog for him to stay in touch with all of us here stateside. So when you get a chance be sure to check it out and comment. Let's make sure C knows that we're thinking about him and support all that he is doing.
Love ya C.
Check out his blog here. |

A Looooong Weekend |
"Jedi business, go back to your drinks." —Anakin Skywalker
Yeah. You all go have your fun and drink it up. After all it is SuperBowl weekend. Right!?
Well, I'm not really enjoying the thrill of the anticipation for the big game. Not because I lack any emotion or attachment to either team (my cowboys will be back soon...),but because I've been leaning over this computer since Friday night. Got creative Jedi business to do. I shoot a wedding back in June '05 and I'm still not done editing it. It's a lot of work to find time to edit a project like this with a job, 2 kids, a wife and murphy's law hangin' around. It's really been getting the best of me. So Jenn decided to take the kids after work friday and head to the grandparent's. Xander at Mamaw & Papaw Gulledge's and Haven at Ninnie & Papaw Lanier. They won't be back till sunday afternoon, that way I could have all weekend just to work.
Man...I'm hurting right about now. I started working when Jenn left about 7pm Friday night. I went to bed about 3;30am. Got up at 8:30am and started back to work again. Currently it's 7:50pm saturday night and I'm at VTN using the Avid to add some effects to the project. I'll be here for several hours. I feel like I've been in a time warp...I'm completely zoned out. My head is throbbing and I've got some serious cabin fever, but I'm making progress. Not finished, but making progress.
I'll never take on another job like this untill I'm self-employed. There's just no time. The graphic gigs and web stuff can be squeezed in here and there, but the video work takes T-I-M-E and I don't have it.
Well, you're probably asking..."why are you blogging and not working?" I am working. I'm digitizing my footage into the Avid. It'll take about an hour. So I've got some time to relax from editing and I thought I'd spend it with you, my faithful (small, but faithful) readers.
Well, I need to get back and take care of business. Have fun this weekend. I'm rooting for the commercials. GO COMMERCIALS! |
