What Comes Around... |
I've often heard it said..."You'll pay for your raising." Basically meaning the torment you inflict on your parents will be paid back to you in time and usually in multiples of 10. Well, I've often heard that I was a great, no complications, no troubles child, (yeah right) but apparently some of my "few" exploits as a child are starting to rear their head in the form of my daughter, Haven. For the last week or so Haven has been getting out of bed and trying to get into ours. On monday night of this past week, she had a marathon session. Focused on 'divide and conquer'. Jenn put her to sleep around 9pm or so. Then while we were watching the news and doing some net surfing....haven appears at our door. Just standing there looking at us. So Jenn gets up and puts her in bed again. "Arrrghhhhh! No MOMMA NO!" She cries. After a while I go in there and tell her to be quite or I'll have to "whoop" her. A phrase that she has become all to familiar with her lately. So we go to sleep. I'm a heavy sleeper, have I told you that. So I wake up at about 4:30am to little hands trying to cuddle on me. "That's not Jennifer" I say to myself as I roll over and see Haven fast asleep beside me. Well my first thought was that Jennifer caved in and let her sleep with us. Then upon further investigation I realize that Jenn is not in bed. It's just me and Haven. So I get up to go investigate. There she is sleeping on the couch. I am completely confused at this point. My wife's on the couch and my daughter's in my bed. So I reach down to wake her up...."WHOOOH! WATCH OUT!" I've never seen my wife move that fast, nor have I ever seen a more flawless impression of Rocky Balboa's fighting stance. Fist bobbing out, head moving side to side and I stare that would stop an army. She apparently doesn't wake well. "What are you doing?" I ask. "Haven has woke me up 3 times tonight and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to move to the couch." "oh. Well, did you know she's in our bed?" "What!" "I didn't put her there, she most have gotten up again after I came in here." Well, I went to get her and put her in her bed...AGAIN. And that has been our life for the past several nights. I called my mom yesterday and told her about the incident I just explained....and she laughed....alot....and loudly. Why you ask? Because she said "You did the same thing to me when you were her age. One night I thought I'd never get to sleep. I'd put you in your bed and before I got back to my room you would be right behind me. It went on for a while. I thought I'd never get you in your bed." Well there you go...it's coming around. I quess I've got a lot to look forward to. Man I hope I wasnt' too bad of a child.
And while I'm on the subject of my baby girl, I'll let you know that she's blogging again. She took some time off...just being a kid, but now she's back. So if you haven't been to her blog in awhile...check it out. You may have to hit the refresh button on your browser...she's made some changes.
